Art poster by the French artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Renoir was a French painter originally associated with the Impressionist movement and one of its central figures. His work is characterised by emotion and a warm response to the world and the people in it. His early works were typically Impressionist snapshots of real life, full of sparkling colour and light. By the mid-1880s, however, he had moved away from the movement to apply a more disciplined, formal technique to portraits and figure paintings, especially of women. This poster shows many women gathered closely together, dressed in vivid colours.
