Edvard Weie's painting "Classensgade" from 1935 shows a street scene from Copenhagen's Østerbro district. Weie did not paint figures alone - his range of subjects also included interiors, city views and street life. The Classensgade painting comes from his late period and reflects the more grounded, observational side of his work alongside his theory of the "sound of colour".
