Flyveugen in 1909 was Denmark's first major public event to feature aeroplanes as an attraction, just six years after the Wright brothers' historic flight at Kitty Hawk. Axel Nygaard (1877-1949) designed the poster in his characteristic caricature style with humour and energy. Nygaard was one of the most prolific Danish caricaturists of his time and contributed regularly to publications including Blæksprutten and Ekstrabladet.
