Boys bathing in the fjord form one of Peter Hansen's best-known groups of subjects. Children swimming in the Funen summer light, bodies in water and sunshine - a scene captured with warmth and a fresh delight in observation. The painting dates from the period 1922-1926 and belongs among the substantial works of Hansen's mature period as a Funen Painter.
