"Faun and Nymph" is Edvard Weie's final and best-known painting - painted in the summer of 1941. The subject draws on the mythological and literary thread that ran through Weie's work from the beginning, and the painting marks the conclusion of his work with figurative motifs. Weie (1879-1943) was a central figure in Danish modernism and was fascinated by the relationship between colour and music.
