Vintage car poster. This poster, created for the 1960 Geneva Motor Show, was awarded the Swiss Poster Prize in 1960. It is considered a remarkable example of design techniques inspired by the Swiss style. Calame, first creates an orange and grey geometric composition representing a car. He then reprints this design several times, giving darker orange and grey shades. This intelligent visual effect, denoting the concept of mobility and speed, indicates the enormous variety of cars exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show. Swiss Style, is also evident in the careful implementation of typography. Calame, symbiotically aligns the layout of the text with the various geometric shapes of the cars.
