Ib Antoni was one of the most sought-after Danish visual artists of his time. His posters were portraits of 1950s and 1960s welfare Danes in the artist’s characteristic style. His tourist posters for Denmark and Wonderful Copenhagen were known and loved outside the country’s borders, and among his many advertising posters are eg works for Tivoli, Victor Borge and Dyrups.
His impressive work culminated in Danish modernism, where Antoni’s drawing style came to define his time – his work even became a symbol of his native Denmark.
Antoni’s coveted and distinctive works were commissioned by more than 150 companies and organizations worldwide. Including Life Magazine, J. Walther Thomsen, Young & Rubicam, Esso, Carlsberg, Volvo, UNICEF, Philips, Fortune, Neiman-Marcus, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and many more.
