ARNE JACOBSEN

(1902-1971)

Arne Jacobsen is one of Denmark’s most famous architects and designers. He was among the pioneers of modernism in Denmark and has an international reputation as one of the pioneers in what became known as Danish design.

He was educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, where he taught as a professor of architecture in the period 1956-1965. He is best known for his chairs Syveren, Myren, Svanen and Ægget, but has also produced a few posters, including the posters Bellevue Revuen (1936) and Radiofoni Udstilling (1932), which are stylish and important contributions to Danish poster art.
